Enable ClamAV Plugin for MDaemon

Click this checkbox if you wish to use the ClamAV Plugin for MDaemon to scan messages for viruses. The ClamAV Plugin can be used along with or instead of the AntiVirus features located on the Content Filter dialog. When both antivirus engines are used, messages are scanned by both engines, providing an extra level of protection.

When viruses are detected...

...do nothing (let Content Filter hand the message)

Choose this option if you wish to use the Content Filter to take some action when ClamAV detects a virus in a message. You can create a Content Filter rule that looks for the header that ClamAV inserts into infected messages and then takes a designated action.

...refuse the message (send 5XX response)

Choose this option if you wish to refuse to accept the incoming message when ClamAV detects a virus.

...quarantine message

Choose this option if you wish to quarantine infected messages.

Configure Exceptions

Click this button if you wish to exempt certain messages from ClamAV scanning. This opens the AV Scanning Exclusions dialog, on which you can designate the senders and recipients to exclude from ClamAV scanning.

Quarantine messages that cannot be scanned

Use this option if you wish to quarantine files that cannot be scanned.

Allow password-protected files that cannot be scanned

Check this box if you wish to allow password-protected files that cannot be scanned.

If non-scanned files are allowed through, the "X-CAV-Result:" header results could contain "encrypted" (password-protected file), "non-scan" (could not be scanned), or "scanning error" (error during scan).

Enable automatic updates of virus signatures

Use this section to specify whether or not you wish to update ClamAV's virus signatures automatically. If enabled, you can designate the frequency and time that ClamAV will check for updates.
