Device Protocol Restrictions

Use the options located under "Mobile Device Management... » ActiveSync » Restrictions" to restrict certain clients and devices to specific ActiveSync protocols. This is useful when, for example, a certain type of device if found to have unreliable support for one protocol but reliable support for another. Using the Create/Edit Device Protocol Restriction dialog, you can define restrictions based on User Agent or Device Type, and restrict the devices to any of the following ActiveSync protocol versions: 2.5, 12.0, 12.1, 14.0, and 14.1.

New restriction

Click this button to open the Create/Edit Device Protocol Restriction dialog, used for creating and editing your protocol restrictions.

Delete restriction

To delete a device protocol restriction entry, select an entry from the list and then click Delete restriction. Click Yes to confirm your decision to delete the restriction.

Edit restriction

To edit a device protocol restriction, select an entry from the list and then click Edit restriction. After making your desired changes in the restriction editor, click OK.

Device Identifier

User Agent

If you wish to base the protocol restriction on the User Agent, select this option and specify the agent. When identifying the agent, MDaemon uses up to and including the first "/" character in the string, if one is present. If not, then the entire string is used. If you do not know the exact name of the user agent, you can find it in MDaemon's ActiveSync log file once the agent has connected to MDaemon ActiveSync.

Device Type

If you wish to base the protocol restriction on the Device Type, select this option and specify the type of device. If you do not know the exact name of the device type, you can find it in your device's system information or in MDaemon's ActiveSync log file once the device has connected to MDaemon ActiveSync.

Select one or more ActiveSync protocol versions

Click each protocol that you wish to support for the device or agent. When the specified client connects to MDaemon it will be limited to using only the protocols that you have selected.
