Options

Maximum push mail monitored folders (16-1024)

This is the maximum number of mail folders for each ActiveSync device that MDaemon will monitor for push mail.

Check push mail monitored folders every (3-50 seconds)

This is how often MDaemon will check each monitored folder for new messages, to push to each ActiveSync device.

Minimum timeout value (2-8 minutes, default 2)

This is how long a Ping Request must be, at the minimum. It is the minimum time required before the request times out and another Ping Request should be issued from the client.

Maximum timeout value (20-100 minutes, default 45)

This is the maximum amount of time allowed before a Ping Request times out.

PIM XML cache expiration (5-60 minutes)

Contacts, Calendar and Tasks are cached to reduce the workload on the server. This is how long a user’s data is cached after it is last accessed. The data is automatically reloaded if the data changes on disk.

Tarpit for clients causing errors (1-15 seconds, default 5)

When a device is causing errors, MDaemon will intentionally delay that client's connections by this many seconds.

Forget devices that haven't connected in this many days (0=never)

This is the number of days that an ActiveSync device can go without connecting to MDaemon before it will be forgotten. When MDaemon forgets a device, its configuration and access settings are discarded. If the device ever connects again, MDaemon will respond as if it is a new device that has never been used on the server. It will be forced to reprovision if a policy is in place for the domain, perform an initial folder sync, and re-sync all subscribed folders. This option can help keep your server free from maintaining information for old and unused devices. The option is set to 31 days by default.

Maximum window size (10-1024, default 100)

The option controls MDaemon ActiveSync's WindowSize element. It is the maximum number of Sync Command Nodes (Adds, Changes, Deletes, SoftDeletes) that can be sent to a client on a per collection (folder) basis. Using a low value in this option can reduce MDaemon ActiveSync's memory usage on a busy server, but it will require more connections and bandwidth. It can also decrease battery life because devices may need to make more requests to get all changes during a sync. Higher values in this option increase memory usage and are more susceptible to communication errors. The default value of 100 is generally a good compromise.

Reset usage stats for all devices on this day of month (1-31, 0=never)

Enter a number from 1-31 into this option if you wish to reset all ActiveSync device usage stats automatically on that day of each month, for all users across all domains. If you set the day to "31", for example, and the month has less than 31 days, then the last day of the month will used as the reset day. The reset event takes place as part of the normal nightly maintenance process and is logged to the System log like other maintenance routines. This option is set to "0" by default, meaning the usage stats will never be reset.

Maximum ActiveSync Devices per user

If you wish to limit the number of ActiveSync devices that can be associated with each MDaemon account, specify the desired number in this option. This option is set to "0" by default, meaning that no limit is set. This is MDaemon's global setting, but there are corresponding options located on the Domain Manager and ActiveSync Devices screen that can be used for setting a different value for specific domains and accounts respectively. The domain and account options are also set to "0" by default, meaning that they inherit their setting from the parent option, i.e. account from domain and domain from global.

ActiveSync includes public folders

Check this box if you want the public folders to which each user has access to be included in the user's folder list on ActiveSync devices. When the option is disabled, public folders will not be included on ActiveSync devices. For your convenience, this option can also be controlled from the Public & Shared Folders screen.

This option controls the global default setting, but it can be overridden for specific domains and accounts by using the corresponding options on the Domain Manager and Account Editor, respectively.

ActiveSync includes shared folders

Check this box if you want the shared folders to which each user has access to be included in the user's folder list on ActiveSync devices. When the option is disabled, shared folders will not be included on ActiveSync devices. For your convenience, this option can also be controlled from the Public & Shared Folders screen.

This option controls the global default setting, but it can be overridden for specific domains and accounts by using the corresponding options on the Domain Manager and Account Editor, respectively.

Log Level

ActiveSync Log Level

ActiveSync for MDaemon supports six levels of logging, from (1) Debug logging to (6) No logging. Generally (1) Debug logging should only be used to diagnose problems. The (2) Normal logging setting provides a good level of data and is the default setting.

Log WBXML and XML data

Use the Log WBXML data and Log XML data options if you wish to log this data for ActiveSync devices, which can sometimes be useful for debugging purposes. There are corresponding options on the Domain Manager and ActiveSync Devices screen for setting these options per domain and per account, respectively. The global options are disabled by default, and the domain and account options are set to Inherit, which means that they take their setting from the parent option. WBXML and XML logging are therefore globally disabled by default.
