Navigating MDaemon Webmail

Scroll Prev Top Next More

MDaemon Webmail's themes contain an array of navigation controls and toolbars that can be used to access its various features, and the look of these controls varies based on the theme you choose. All themes have the Folder List on the left and the Message List on the right. Pro, LookOut, and Lite have navigation controls across the top, while WorldClient has them on the left. The main pane on the right is dynamic in all but the Lite theme, containing toolbars that change based on the page you are viewing, and containing other key elements such as the Message Listing and user settings. The Lite theme has a more static set of controls.

Webmail's Main Components

Summary Page

The first page displayed after you sign in to the LookOut theme is the Summary page. The Summary page is divided into four sections and gives you a quick view of four major Webmail features: the Message Listing, Tasks, Notes, and any upcoming appointments on your Calendar. Click the title bar of any of the four sections to switch to that page. You can get back to the Summary page by clicking the MDaemon icon in the top left corner. If you do not want the Summary page to be your default login page, clear the Make Default Login Page checkbox at the bottom of the page. This will set the Message Listing as your default login page. If you wish to set a different default login page (for example, the Calendar page), you can do so by using the Default View option, located on the Personalize page under Options.

Folder List

In all themes, your list of folders appears on the left side of the page. There are several different types of folders in Webmail, including: message folders, calendars, notes, and more. You can create folders and configure various folder options from the Folder options page, and you can use Filters to automatically sort messages into specific folders as each message arrives.

Message Listing

The first page displayed after you sign in is the Inbox Message Listing (in the LookOut theme, the Summary page is displayed first). All messages contained in your Inbox will be listed and can be sorted by: Subject, Sender, Date, Size, and other columns. From here you can mark messages as read, delete messages, move or copy them to another folder, or cause one to be displayed in the Message View. The Message Listing in the Pro, WorldClient and LookOut themes can also contain a preview pane, which displays the contents of whichever message you have selected in the list.

Message View

When you click (double-click in LookOut or WorldClient) a message in the Message Listing, it is opened in the Message View. This allows you to view the entire message and perform actions related to it, such as reply to it, forward it, delete the message, print it, add the sender to your address book, and more.

Compose

Composing messages in Webmail is straight forward. Within any given theme, click any one of several options such as: Compose, New Message, Reply, or Forward to open the Compose View, used for composing and sending your messages. Depending on your server and user permissions, you may even be able to send faxes using the Compose View.

Calendar

Click Calendar within any theme to open your MDaemon Webmail Calendar, which you can use to manage and schedule your appointments and meetings. Meeting attendees can be invited through the calendar system, reminders can be scheduled, recurring appointments can be created, your calendar folder can be shared with other users, and much more. The calendar includes Day, Week, Month, and Year views.

Contacts

Webmail's suite of features includes an address book, or contact store, that you can use to keep track of your contacts' email addresses, work and home addresses, phone numbers, and so on. Click Contacts within any theme to open your address book.

Tasks

Click Tasks to open the Tasks page. Tasks allow you to keep track of upcoming tasks and projects, tasks you have completed, and things you may be waiting for others to do.

Notes

Click Notes to create and manage your notes. Notes can be color-coded and associated with contacts and categories.

Options

The Options page contains links to up to sixteen different sub-pages used for accessing certain features and for setting your user preferences. The Options page can contain the following links: Personalize, Security, Notifications, Compose, Email Templates, Autoresponder, Folders, Filters, Calendar, Mailboxes, Categories, Columns, Cloud Apps, MDaemon Instant Messenger, MDaemon Connector, and Advanced Settings. Depending on your mail server's configuration and your account permissions, one or more of these links may not be available to you.

Help

MDaemon Webmail is equipped with an extensive online Help system, available in several languages. In the Pro, WorldClient and Lookout themes, click your account name in the top right corner to see the Help link on a drop-down menu. In the Lite theme the link is at the top right corner of the page. In all but the Lite theme, the link is context sensitive, meaning that the online help will open directly to a topic related to the Webmail page on which you clicked the help link.

Sign Out

Click Sign Out to sign out of Webmail. You should always sign out and close your browser when you are finished working with your mail. This will aid in making sure that your mail is secure at all times. In all themes but Lite, the Sign Out option is located on the drop-down menu that appears when you click your account name in the top right corner.
