Presentation

Language

This is the language in which Webmail's pages will appear.

Theme

This is the visual scheme or set of pages that Webmail will use to display your messages and content. The default themes included in Webmail are: WorldClient, LookOut, Lite, and Pro. For more on Themes, see: Choosing a Theme.

Style

Available in the LookOut and Lite themes, this option provides a preconfigured set of font colors and sizes, background colors, and so on. Choose your favorite. This does not change the layout of your pages. Layout and controls are determined by the Theme.

Default View

Use this option to designate the view that will be displayed when you sign in to Webmail, such as: Inbox, Calendar, or Contacts.

Keyboard Shortcut Layout

This feature makes it possible for you to choose from several different keyboard shortcut key layouts for use in the Pro, WorldClient or LookOut theme. There is the default LookOut layout and several others that are similar to those used by other email clients. If you are already familiar with the shortcut key combinations used by another email client, such as Gmail or Outlook, then you can use this feature to cause the Webmail theme to use your preferred layout. For more information, see: Shortcut Keys.

Enable Dark Mode (Pro theme only)

Click this option to display the theme with a dark background.

Skip initial mail check

If you have a lot of mail folders, checking this option may help you sign in faster, since it will prevent Webmail from counting all of the messages in all of your folders when you first sign in. Counts for the Inbox will still be done.

Collapse my nested folders

If you have a lot of nested folders then this option can help display the LookOut theme faster. By collapsing the folder list, the folders are delayed and the browser can move on to other pages for loading.

Display Previews (Pro theme only)

In the Pro theme, this option displays a pop-up preview of the item when you tap/click a contact, task, or note.

MDaemon Instant Messenger

Enable MDaemon's Instant Messaging feature in browser

Check this box if you would like to use MDaemon Webmail's integrated instant messaging client, which you can use to chat with other MDaemon users. This feature allows you to chat inside the Pro, Lookout or WorldClient themes instead of requiring you to install a separate instant messaging client on your computer. When enabled, an Instant Messenger icon appears in the top-right corner of the browser and a collapsible messenger pane is displayed on the right. For help with in-browser chat, click the menu button in the bottom-right corner of the messenger pane, and click Online help.

Message Listing

List Refresh Time

This setting determines how often your Message Listing will be refreshed. You can also refresh the listing by clicking Get Mail in the Navigation pane or on the toolbar, depending on which theme you are using.

List Messages Per Page

This is the maximum number of messages that will be displayed at any given time in the Message Listing. You can view additional messages by paging through the Message Listing with the page controls. You can choose "All" to display all messages in the folder, but this could substantially slow down the performance of your browser and computer if the folder contains a large number of messages. Depending on your connection speed, trying to list thousands of messages could effectively freeze your browser due to the very large amount of data that would have to be generated and downloaded from the server. On slow connections, setting this option to list even hundreds of message might cause you long delays. You should experiment with this setting to determine what works best for you.

Mark as Read

In the WorldClient and LookOut themes, the Message Listing contains a Message Preview pane that displays whichever message is selected in the list. The Mark as Read option governs how long a message is displayed before it is marked as read in the message list. By default messages are marked as read Immediately when displayed. Change this setting if you wish to be able to preview a message for several seconds without marking it as read. Select Never Mark Read if you do not want the Message Preview pane to cause any messages to be marked as read.

Sort Messages by

Use this control to designate the default method by which messages will be sorted in the Message Listing. You can choose to sort messages in either ascending or descending order by: Date, Subject, From, To, or Mailbox.

See: Sorting the Message Listing.

View Sender by

This control is for specifying what sender information you wish to display in the Message Listing: Name, Email Address, or Show All.

Send Read Confirmations

Sometimes incoming messages contain a special header for requesting that an automated message be sent back to the sender to let him or her know when you read the message. Set this option to specify how you want Webmail to handle messages that ask for read confirmations. Set it to No if you do not want Webmail to ever respond to read confirmation requests. Choose Yes if you want Webmail to send read confirmation automatically whenever you open a message that requests it, and choose Prompt if you want to be asked whether or not to send the read confirmation.

Message Deletion

This option controls how Webmail will handle messages that you delete from the Message Listing. Choose "Move to Trash" if you wish to move a deleted message to the designated Trash folder. Choose "Flag as Deleted" if you wish to leave the message in the current folder but flag it as deleted by marking a line through it. Depending on your Empty Trash on Sign Out setting below, messages in the Trash folder or flagged for deletion may be permanently deleted when you sign out.

Hide Deleted Messages

When "Flag as Deleted" is selected as your Message Deletion setting, check this box if you wish to hide the messages that are flagged. They will not appear in the Message Listing. To see any messages that are flagged as deleted you must first uncheck this option.

Empty Trash on Sign Out

Click this checkbox if you want your Trash folder to be emptied after you sign out of Webmail. If you have chosen "Flag as Deleted" as your Message Deletion option above, then flagged messages will be purged, or permanently deleted.

Display New Messages Count

When this option is enabled, the combined count of new messages in all of your mail folders is displayed in the page title at the top of your browser. This option is enabled by default.

Enable Message List Threading

Check this box if you wish to group messages by conversation. The original message will appear in the Message Listing. Replies to the original message or to any subsequent messages belonging to the same conversation will appear nested below it in a separate "thread."

Use Auto-formatted Date (Pro theme only)

In the Pro theme, this option displays an automatically formatted date for each message in the Message Listing, rather than displaying a static, numerical date. For example, rather than displaying a date as: "01/12/2021 13:27PM", this option might display: "1:27 pm," "Yesterday 1:27 pm," January 12, 1:27 pm," or the like.

Messages

Preferred Multipart Format

Sometimes an incoming message will be available in both plain text and HTML format (used for colors, fonts, bold text, etc.). When reading one of these messages, this is the format in which you want the message to be displayed.

lightbulb_on_50_yback

This is only applicable to messages that are available in both formats. Messages that are available in a single format will be displayed in the format appropriate to the message.

Add Replies to Contacts

Check this box if you want a message sender's email address and name to be added to your Contacts when you reply to the message.

Print Attachments

By default, when a message has an attachment and you click Print in the Message View, you will be asked if you wish to print the attachment as well. Change this option from Decide on print to Always or Never if you wish to always or never print the attachments, instead of being asked.

List All Attachments

Whenever possible, Webmail will display image and text file attachments inline as part of the message. All other attachments will be listed at the bottom. Click this option if you would like attachments that are displayed inline to be included in the list at the bottom as well. Further, the paperclip/attachments icon will not ordinarily appear in the Message Listing for messages with only inline images. If you enable this option then the icon will appear for those messages as well. This option is disabled by default.

Do Not Block Images for Allowed Senders

Ordinarily when you view a message in Webmail, any inline images it contains will be blocked and you will get a warning message informing you of that at the top of the page. You can then click the warning message to view the images. Click this checkbox if you wish to display those images without a warning when the message is from someone in your Allowed Senders folder or one of your default Contacts.

Display unsubscribe links

Displays unsubscribe links next to the From address in the message headers.

Message Window Closes on Delete

By default when viewing an email message in a pop-up window and you delete the message, the next message in the list will be displayed. Click this option if you want the window to be closed instead, without opening the next message.

Text Reader Voice

Use this option to choose the voice you wish to use for the built-in text-to-voice reader. When viewing a message, click the Read Message or Text Reader icon on the toolbar to read the message. Note: Voices provided by the browser have known issues, and may stop reading after 15 seconds with no error reported. When this happens, clicking the stop button and then playing the message again may temporarily resolve the issue.

Contacts

Default Contacts View

Use this option to designate the contacts view that you wish to display when you click the Contacts link on the navigation pane or toolbar.

Contacts Per Page

This options sets the number of contacts per page that will be displayed in the contacts view. If you have a large address book, choosing to display many or all of the addresses at once will affect how long it will take to display the page.

Enable Contact Info Preview

In the LookOut theme, when you hover over an item in the Contact List, the Contact Info Preview appears. Uncheck this box if you wish to turn off the Contact Info Preview.

Contact Info Preview Timer

In the LookOut theme, use this drop-down list to choose how many seconds you must hover over an item in the Contact List before the the Contact Info Preview will appear. Increase or decrease the time if you find that the preview appears sooner or later than you prefer. The default setting is 1 second.

Forwarding

Enable Forwarding

Enable the forwarding option if you wish to forward all of your incoming messages to another email address.

Retain Copy

Check this box if you wish to keep a copy in Webmail of each message that you forward to the other address. Each message will be filtered normally.
